The On-Premise Startup Edition cannot be updated, as this free system is not eligible for updates. All other systems which have a current subscription in place can be updated by system administrators, using System Support Tools -> Upgrades & Customization.
From release 7.1.3 on, administrators of systems with support can always see if there is a new release by using the Check for Updates button on the License & Support screen.
As well, your 1CRM server (while it has an active support & update subscription) performs this check itself automatically every 3 days (as long as your Scheduler is running) – and if an update is found, a green up-arrow is displayed as a notification in the license info area of every screen.
